Camden Arts and Culture Map
The Camden Arts and Culture Map is an interactive guide to public art, cultural institutions and points of interest in the City of Camden, NJ. This map was originally created as part of the A New View temporary public art installation that transformed six highly visible spaces along Camden’s public transportation corridors from eyesores used for illegal dumping into multi-purpose community forums. Some of those installations are still on view today along with many other creative pieces created by Camden residents and artists of national and international acclaim.
Camden Art for Change
Camden Art for Change is a temporary public art project featuring a series of sidewalk murals in and around “adopted” storm drains in flood prone areas of Camden. The illustrative artwork around the drains bolsters the existing “Adopt-a-Drain” program by drawing attention to the issue that storm drains clogged by leaves and litter result in combined sewer flooding and water pollution. The art depicts how both issues are compounded by climate change impacts such as increased frequency and intensity of rainfall.
The sidewalk art is accompanied by a free “Camden Storm Drains” coloring book! Their work is present in various locations throughout the city of Camden. This artwork is funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the New Jersey Coastal Management Program, Department of Environmental Protection – in partnership with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
"Camden Kings and Queens"
Connect the Lots teamed up with local artist Erik James Montgomery to produce "Camden Kings and Queens" a new mural at Dudley Grange Park in East Camden. This mural is an original work by Erik James Montgomery who produced two amazing photo series for A New View Camden in 2021. This latest piece showcases students from Forest Hill School as young royalty against a backdrop of flags from around the world. No matter where we go, Camden's young people are regal, royal and representing.
